The Dibsi Royal Family, with a heavy heart and a spirit of deep reverence, announces the final funeral performance of our late father and leader, Dibsi Gbanglana/Sunglana (Baba Shei Wumbei), the Regent of Nakpayili.
The Regent of Nakpayili, Baba Shei Wumbei was more than a traditional authority; he was a guardian of culture and a steady hand for the community during his regency. As we prepare to conclude his earthly journey through these sacred rites, we invite the Nanumba Traditional Council, religious leaders, friends, and the general public to join us in this final tribute.
The Sacred Schedule of Events
The funeral rites will be performed over a nine-day period, following the customs of the Dachamba Traditional Area:
Thursday, 2nd April 2026 – Kuli Yihibu (Commencement)
The formal opening of the funeral rites, marking the beginning of the traditional observation.
Friday, 3rd April 2026 – Zuhu Pinibu / Gbang Zilibu
Key traditional ceremonies involving the customary dressing and honors befitting a Regent.
Thursday, 9th April 2026 – Buni Wuhibu / Yili Gilibu
The display of heritage and the symbolic circumambulation of the royal house.
Friday, 10th April 2026 – Sara Taribu / Adua
The final Islamic prayers and the distribution of alms, seeking eternal peace for his soul.
