The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has officially commissioned a newly built two-storey girls’ dormitory at Bimbilla Senior High School (SHS). The facility, funded by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), can accommodate over 600 students, easing the long-standing congestion in the school’s boarding facilities.
The project, which was initiated under the erstwhile administration, has been completed by the Mahama administration, in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to continuity in governance.
This commitment is firmly grounded in Article 35(7), Chapter 6 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which states:
“As far as practicable, a government shall continue and execute projects and programmes commenced by previous Governments.”
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu praised the collaborative efforts that led to the project’s completion and reaffirmed government’s dedication to improving educational infrastructure nationwide.
He also announced plans to construct a new 300-capacity boys’ dormitory, provide a school bus, and upgrade Bimbilla SHS from a Category C to Category B institution.
The event was attended by school authorities, students, traditional leaders, and community members, who expressed gratitude to the government and GNPC for their continuous support toward educational development in the Nanumba area.
