The Nanumba South District Assembly has disbursed a total of GH¢665,952.74 from the Persons with Disabilities Fund to beneficiaries across the district as part of efforts to promote inclusion, economic empowerment and improved livelihoods.
The support was presented at a ceremony in Wulensi, where the District Chief Executive, Hon. Musah Abdul-Rashid, emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to supporting persons with disabilities to become economically independent and active contributors to their communities.
The beneficiaries received assistance across several areas, including business development, animal rearing, education, healthcare and productive equipment. Items provided included equipment such as sewing machines and refrigerators, intended to help beneficiaries establish or strengthen sustainable livelihoods.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the DCE urged them to use the support strictly for its intended purposes and to make productive use of the assistance to improve their livelihoods.
He further assured persons with disabilities in the district of the Assembly’s continued commitment to their welfare, empowerment and inclusion in local development initiatives.
GH¢26,995 Support for Psychiatric Health Unit
As part of the ceremony, the Nanumba South District Assembly also presented GH¢26,995 to the Psychiatric Health Unit to support its activities.
The amount was received on behalf of the unit by its Head of Department, Ben Salam.
The intervention highlights the Assembly’s broader commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and strengthening social and healthcare services within the district.
