Walk with Radia 2025: A Step to Mark World Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day in Ghana.

On Sunday, 5th October 2025, Tamale will witness a unique event of hope, resilience, and advocacy—the “Walk with Radia 2025”. Organized by the Naglogu Care Foundation (NCF), the awareness walk is part of activities to mark the World Cerebral Palsy (CP) Awareness Day, which falls on 6th October each year.

Cerebral Palsy (CP) is the most common physical disability in childhood, caused by brain injury that affects movement, muscle tone, and posture. Despite its prevalence, CP remains poorly understood in Ghana. Stigma, misinformation, and lack of support systems leave many children and adults with CP, as well as their families, struggling in silence.

The Walk with Radia is more than just a health walk. It is a call to society to recognize, respect, and support individuals living with CP. It is about breaking stereotypes, educating the public, and demanding better healthcare and inclusive opportunities for children and adults affected by the condition.

At the heart of this initiative is Radia Nuhu Nkabo, a young disability advocate who herself lives with Cerebral Palsy. Her story of resilience, pursuing education, advocacy, and empowerment has inspired many across Northern Ghana and beyond. Through her leadership, Naglogu Care Foundation is ensuring that CP advocacy becomes a community movement rather than a personal struggle.

What to Expect at the Event

1. A public health walk through key streets in Tamale, starting from Police Park.

2. Awareness messages carried on placards, banners, and a tricycle drive.

3. Educational sessions led by healthcare professionals on the causes, effects, and care needs of individuals with CP.

4. Experience sharing by parents and caregivers of children with CP.

The event is expected to attract families, schools, NGOs, traditional leaders, health professionals, policymakers, and community members who share in the vision of a more inclusive society.

The success of Walk with Radia 2025 depends on strong partnerships. NCF is calling on organizations, NGOs, corporate bodies, and individuals to come on board whether through sponsorship, in-kind support, or participation on the day. Support could be in the form of branded T-shirts, water, snacks, sound systems, or media coverage. Every contribution counts towards creating awareness and breaking stigma.

Walk with Radia 2025 is not just a one-day event. It is a growing movement that seeks to ensure dignity, acceptance, and inclusion for people living with Cerebral Palsy in Ghana. As Radia herself often emphasizes, “Disability is not inability—it is society’s responsibility to create space for everyone to thrive.”
