Bimbilla SHS Gets Ultra-Modern 600-Bed Girls’ Dormitory, Courtesy of GNPC

In a significant boost to female education in the Northern Region, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has constructed and handed over a newly built two-storey girls’ dormitory to the Bimbilla Senior High School (SHS).

The modern facility, which can accommodate over 600 students, is designed to address the long-standing accommodation challenges faced by female students at the school. It comes fully equipped with washrooms, study areas, and other essential amenities aimed at creating a safe and comfortable environment conducive to learning.

The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, is scheduled to be in Bimbilla on Saturday, November 1st to officially commission the new dormitory. The ceremony is expected to attract key stakeholders, including officials from GNPC, the Northern Regional Education Directorate, traditional leaders, and community members.

Speaking ahead of the commissioning, school authorities expressed profound appreciation to GNPC for the intervention, describing it as a “timely and life-changing support” that will encourage more girls to pursue secondary education without the fear of poor living conditions.

This development forms part of GNPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to enhance educational infrastructure across the country, with a special focus on promoting access, safety, and quality education for young girls.

With this new dormitory, Bimbilla SHS is poised to improve female enrollment and retention, paving the way for more young women from the Nanumba area and beyond to achieve their academic dreams.
