Nanumba South DCE Hosts Indian Investors, 24-Hour Economy Secretariat on Biomass Project Tour

 


On Saturday, 10th January 2026, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nanumba South, Hon. Musah Abdul Rashid, hosted a delegation from Atri Energy Transition Private Limited (India), led by CEO Mr. Shishir Kalkonde, together with officials from the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat, as part of an assessment tour of the Biomass Power Plant project at Juoli.

The visit aimed at evaluating the ongoing project and exploring additional investment opportunities within the district. Hon. Musah Abdul Rashid presented the district’s investment profile, highlighting priority areas such as cereal processing, irrigation farming, ruminant rearing, waste recycling, and hospitality, noting the district’s strategic location and availability of arable land.

Officials from the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat described the initiative as a flagship government programme focused on job creation and import reduction, with an estimated 30,000 jobs nationwide, including benefits for Nanumba South.



The Biomass Power Plant is expected to generate 500MWt, with animal feed and organic fertilizer as by-products, and future plans to integrate solar energy for enhanced sustainability.

On Sunday, 11th January 2026, the DCE, supported by the MCE for Nanumba North, Hon. Abdul Samed Hamza, and the DCE for Nkwanta North, Hon. Isaiah Kudjo Dordoe, led the delegation on a field tour to Damanko, Juoli, and Opijua, including assessments of nearby water bodies.



Chiefs and residents welcomed the initiative and expressed appreciation to the DCE, project partners, and the John Dramani Mahama-led government, citing the project’s potential to boost employment, livelihoods, and overall socio-economic development in the district.
